Life Legacy

Mrs. Ruby Mae Brazzell, age 90, of Lake Placid, Florida, formerly of Robinson, Illinois, died Thursday October 20, 2011 at Hospice House, Sebring, Florida, following many months of failing health.

Ruby was born October 9, 1921 in Westmorland, Tennessee, the daughter of John A. Rippy and Mattie A. (Creasey) Rippy. On October 7, 1968 she married Thomas E. Brazzell and he survives. She was employed as a retail clerk for William H. Block Department Store, Indianapolis, Indiana and as a homemaker, and was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Robinson, Illinois.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas E. "Tommy" Brazzell, Lake Placid, Florida; a daughter, Mrs. Linda French, Carmi, Illinois; a step-son, Tommy Allen Brazzell, Tampa, Florida; three step-daughters, Rebecca J. Brazzell, Indianapolis, Indiana, Norma Jean (Jerry) Hammond, Oblong, Illinois, Ms. Teri Obst, Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Dr. and Mrs. John (Mona) Kane, Beaufort, South Carolina, Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey (Angie) French, Carmi, Illinois; great grandchildren, John Joseph Kane Jr., Kenney Kane and Emma Kane; a brother Gordon Rippy, Martinsville, Illinois and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Hubert Rippy, John Rippy; sisters, Flora Williams, Virginia Rippy, Betty Rippy; brother-in-law John Williams; sister-in-law, Freda Rippy; son-in-law, Larry French.

Funeral services will be Wednesday October 26, 2011 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, Illinois with Rev. T. R. Akers officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday October 25, 2011 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and from 9:00 am until the time of service on Wednesday at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, Illinois. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Elks Crippled Childrens Hospital, Umatilla, Florida, 32784.
