Life Legacy

Hobart "Junior" Sanders, age 77, Oblong, Illinois, died Monday January 30, 2012 at his residence in Oblong, Illinois. Born September 8, 1934, the son of Allen and Nettie Ellen (Weck) Sanders. Junior was employed at the Briggs Pottery in Robinson, Illinois, retiring after 42 years; Owner of Sanders Furniture, Oblong, Illinois; former Master Mason Oblong Masonic Lodge #644 AF & AM, Oblong American Legion Post #219, and enjoyed horse racing.

Survivors include a sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Bonnie Sanders, Oblong, Illinois, Randy Sanders, Oblong, Illinois; daughter, Tonia Holubek, Lebanon, Indiana; grandchildren, Thomas Holubek, Mattoon, Illinois, Ryan Holubek, New Ross, Indiana, Tiffany and Jacob Griffin, AFB Little Rock, Arkansas, Erica and Adam Herr, Oblong, Illinois, Summer Sanders, Oblong, Illinois and Sierra Sanders, Robinson, Illinois; brother, David Sanders, Valparaiso, Indiana; Sister, Jo Carter, Plymouth, Indiana; sisters-in-law, Elzora Sanders, Oblong, Illinois, Darlene Sanders, Oblong, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; companion Betty Masters, Casey, Illinois. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers and sisters, Ralph Musgrave, Marie Ikemire, Ethel Lyons, Dorothy Hursey, Floyd Sanders, Paul Sanders, Carl Sanders, Louise Higginbothem, Kate Murphy, Ruth Bruner, Margaret Shaffer and three infant siblings.

Memorial service will be Friday February 3, 2012 at 7:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, Illinois with Rev. Leonard Waller officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 pm until time of services at 7:00 pm. Interment of cremated remains will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois, at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Junior Sanders Memorial Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.
