Betty J. Gish, 70, of Oblong, IL passed away on Sunday September 8, 2019 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL.

She was born in Paxton, IL on May 25, 1949 to Bernard and Louise (Oakley) Nichols. She married Terry Gish who preceded her in death.

Betty had worked at the First National Bank in Oblong as a teller for many years, retiring in 1999.  She had also worked for the past 20 years as the Office Manager at Big 5 Auto Repair. She was a member of the Newton High School class of 1967. She loved to collect vintage perfume bottles and table lighters.  She also loved going to antique stores and flea markets and enjoyed listening to Irish folk music.

She is survived by a daughter Dee Goodwin, Newton, IL; two grandchildren Shelby Mooney, Newton, IL and Kelsey and Alex Gano, Denver, Co.  She is also survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law Barb Mitchell, Newton, IL, Sandy and Dale Bower, Newton, IL and Judy and John Weaver, Ridge Farm, IL; her life partner Robert Barker, Oblong, IL, along with several nieces and nephews and her cat Fred.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Terry Gish and her cat Winker.

Celebration of Betty’s Life will be at 10:30 PM on Friday September 13, 2019 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL. Burial will follow in Oblong Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday September 12, 2019 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL. The family request that in lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Crawford County Humane Society with envelopes available at the funeral home or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449.

Betty, was always friendly, at the bank, her and I had the same day. I know sarah, and sandy, Jennifer, in high school. She will be missed. Deana, sue, and john.

Betty was a wonderful lady. It was my joy to have worked at FNBO with Betty. She was outgoing and so friendly. I am glad I got to know her. She will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathy,
I have fond memories of riding the bus with Betty from grade school thru high school, she always was full of energy and excited to get on the bus. May God bless you and your family, Georgia
