Mr. Kenton C. “Kent” Carver, age 74 of Robinson, IL died Tuesday June 5, 2018 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL following many months of failing health.

Born October 3, 1943 in Hammond, IN he was the son of Hugh and Mildred (Gerhart) Carver.  On November 10, 2001 he married M. Susan (Hays) Weber and she survives.

Kent graduated from Robinson High School in 1961. After earning a BS in Math and Chemistry from Murray State College, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam:  the first tour as a Platoon Leader and the second tour as an Advisor to the South Vietnamese National Army. Kent was awarded the Bronze Star with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Stars. He was awarded the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device (1960) and Republic of Vietnam Armor Badge by the Republic of Vietnam.  Kent spent eight years in active Duty and then several years of active duty reserves. After leaving active duty he obtained his BS in Nursing and worked in Healthcare as an RN until he became a victim of Agent Orange.  Kent attended the First United Methodist Church, Robinson, IL; was a member of the American Legion Post #69, Robinson, IL; VFW Post #4549, Robinson, IL and for a short time served as the manager of Restaurant Activities at the E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion.  He was a member of the Local Honor Guard and played taps.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Carver, Robinson, IL; sons and daughter-in-law, Brad Carver, Nashville, TN, Jeffrey and Christi Carver, Sacramento, CA; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Andrew Hassing, Rolesville, NC; step-children, George and Hope Weber, Robinson, IL, Danielle and Daniel Thompson, Olympia, WA; grandchildren, Jacob Carver, Finnegan “Finn” Hassing, Penelope Hassing; step grandchildren, Jorie and Mia Weber; great grandchild, Astrid Carver; a sister-in-law, Stephanie and Sid Drain, The Villages in Florida.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother-in-law, George Burns Hays, KIA Vietnam in 1967.

The Funeral service will be Sunday June 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with Rev. Jay Regennitter officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday June 9, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL.  Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL with Military Graveside Rites provided by the E.M. Coulter Post #69 and VFW Post #4549.

Susan, it seems like only a few days ago we were all together at the class 'supper'. I'm saddened to hear of Kenton's passing. My condolences.
