Mrs. Rita M. VanWinkle, age 73 of Robinson, IL, passed away Thursday October 5, 2017 at 11:30 PM EST at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN.

Born February 27, 1944 in Hunt City, IL, she was the daughter of Leo Nichols and Elenora Mae (Woods) Nichols.  On September 7, 1962, she married William E. “Bill” VanWinkle.  Rita was employed with Victor Dana Corporation, Robinson, IL in the Kit Department for thirty years.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, William E. and Charlotte VanWinkle Jr., Lawrenceville, IL, Robert A. VanWinkle and Sara Cox, Robinson, IL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Floyd and Kathy Woods, Oklahoma City, OK, Bill Nichols, Robinson, IL, Danny Nichols, Robinson, IL, Donnie and Angie Nichols, Robinson, IL, Roger Nichols, Robinson, IL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Wayne Barrick, Robinson, IL, Bobbie Nichols, Lawrenceville, IL, Connie Nichols, Crawfordsville, IL, Debbie and Harold Bachelor, Robinson, IL, brother-in-law, Rob Byrley, Palestine, IL; sisters-in-law and spouses, Shirley and Bill Pippin, Robinson, IL and Jean and Ed Catt, Robinson, IL along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, William E. “Bill” VanWinkle, June 21, 2009; daughter, Michelle L. VanWinkle, February 23, 2015; sister, Bonnie Byrley and sister-in-law, Pam Nichols.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday October 9, 2017 at 6:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with Rev. T. R. Akers officiating.  Visitation will be Monday October 9, 2017 from 3:30 PM until time of service at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.  There will be a private family committal service in the Tohill Cemetery, rural Flat Rock, IL, at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Crawford County Spay and Neuter Foundation, Robinson, IL, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

I worked with Rita many years at Victor, she always had that quick smile, she helped take the edge off the rough days with her wit, rest in peace little lady for you will long be remembered.

Hi family,
I always remember aunt Rita being small and cute. I loved her long black hair. So many years have past. But hope you all will except my best wishes to all. God be with you now and always. Hugs to everyone.

So sorry to hear about loss of your mother. She was a very special person I so enjoyed having her for a aunt. She is now with your dad and your sister. And all the rest of the families that have went through heavens Gates. Sending my love an hugs.
