Mrs. Vera M. Harris, age 94 of Indianapolis, IN and formerly of Robinson, IL, died Tuesday June 6, 2017 at 9:30 AM EST at Terre Haute Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, IN following several weeks of failing health.

Born October 23, 1922 in Flat Rock, IL she was the daughter of John F. and Vesta Hale (Abbott) Shimer.  On August 23, 1942, she married John H. Harris and he preceded her in death January 14, 1987.  

Mrs. Harris worked at the Ettlebrick Shoe Factory, (Robinson Manufacturing) in Robinson, IL for many years and was a member of the Crawford County Home Extension.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, James R. and Debra Harris, Terre Haute, IN; Howard and Cathy Harris, Highlands Ranch, CO; daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and David Babb, Indianapolis, IN; Diana and Jim Coakley, Laurel, MD; a brother, Larry Shimer, Indianapolis, IN and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Gloria Shimer, Robinson, IL along with eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John H. Harris; brothers, Gerald Shimer and Robert Shimer; sisters, Dorothe Wilkin and Mary Alice Perkins.

Funeral service will be Monday June 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL, with Pastor David Babb officiating.  Visitation will be Monday June 12, 2017 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. Burial will follow funeral services in Palestine City Cemetery, Palestine, IL

Memorial donations may be made to the Crawford County Relay for Life, American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Sorry to hear of Aunt Vera's death. I will remember her happy smile and kind personality. I will fondly remember her and I wish your family peace. Please know you are in my prayers.

Norma and all family - - I am sorry about your loss. I am sorry I can't be at visitation due to a Dr. appointment in Vincennes. You have my sincere sympathy and I will keep you in my thoughts.
