Oma Louise Lackey, 99, of Robinson, IL passed away on Sunday March 5, 2017 at 2:00 A.M. E.T. at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.

Born in Crawford County Illinois on October 25, 1917 she was the daughter of Arthur Lackey and Jenny May (Scott) Lackey.

Oma was a real “Rosie the Riveter”; during WWII she built bombers for the Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan. She was also a waitress in Robinson, worked at F.W. Woolworths in Robinson, IL for ten years and worked at Crawford County State bank for 25 years as head teller. She was a member of the Dogwood-Prairie Methodist Church. Oma was lifelong resident of Crawford County, IL. She was very active within her church especially reading until her eye sight would not allow. Oma was also active with the Crawford County Senior Citizens and their fund raisers.

Survivors include one brother Robert Lackey, Terre Haute, IN along with several nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

Preceding Oma in death were her parents and three sisters; Mildred Annie Bliss, Mary Becktall and Wilma Miller.

Celebration of Oma’s Life service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday March 11, 2017 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL. Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday March 11, 2017 at Pulliam Funeral Home Oblong, IL.

The Family request that an expression of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Dogwood-Prairie Methodist Church with envelopes available at or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449.

So sorry to hear about Oma. I worked with Oma at Crawford County State Bank, she was my boss when I started on the teller line, until she retired. Very smart, new her stuff. Always easy to talk to. Oma was one of my favorite bosses, she had your back if needed, you also knew when you were in trouble, very fair, and very fun to work with. Thinking of her family at this time.
