Wanda Mason Chapman, age 92, of Bowling Green, OH and formerly of Robinson, IL, passed away peacefully Friday April 8, 2016 at the Heritage Health Care Campus, Bowling Green, OH after a brief illness.  Wanda was born August 15, 1923 in Oblong, IL, to Clay and Esther (Eaton) Mason.  She attended Brown Business College in Terre Haute, IN and was employed by Marathon Oil Company.

Russell W. Chapman “Chappie”, age 97 joined the love of his life, his wife Wanda, on Sunday May 1, 2016.  Russell passed with the knowledge that his time on this earth was well spent and his dedication to the support and care of his spouse was fulfilled and completed.

Russell was born April 17, 1919 to Ova M. and Bessie (Ping) Chapman in Clark County, IL.  He graduated from Robinson High School, Robinson, IL.  After attending Business College in Terre Haute, IN, he took employment with Ohio Oil Company (now Marathon Oil Company).  Employment was interrupted while serving four years, four months in the U.S. Army 3rd Armored Regiment, nicknamed the Spearhead.  He was awarded a bronze star for participation in the Battle of the Bulge.

On September 1, 1946 he married Wanda C. (Mason) and to this union was born two children, Linda C. (Spitler) of Bowling Green, OH and Wayne M. Chapman of Palm Harbor, FL, along with grandsons Andrew (Amanda) Spitler; Nathaniel (Jennifer) Spitler; Nicholas (Fiancé Christina Braknis) Spitler; Daniel Chapman and great-grandson, Bradley Spitler.

Wanda and Russell met while both were employed at Marathon Oil in Robinson, IL, then in 1960, Russell and Wanda moved to Findlay, OH, where Russell continued at Marathon until retiring February 1, 1984 after 46 years of service.  They enjoyed many years of retirement in Findlay and Homosassa, FL, perfecting their golf and bridge skills.  On April 17, 2009 Russell accomplished every golfer’s dream of scoring his age (90) and continued the feat many times thereafter.  They recently moved to Bowling Green, OH to be with family.

Russell and Wanda were 56 year members of St. Marks United Methodist Church, Findlay, OH.  Russell was a member of the American Legion; Elks Lodge; Sycamore Springs Golf Club and Sugarmill Woods Golf and Country Club, Homosassa, Springs, FL.  Wanda was an active member of several volunteer and charitable organizations.  Most importantly, Wanda was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, so delighted to have a great grandson carry her maiden name.
