Mr. Robert Dale “Bobby” Hanson, age 74, of Robinson, IL, died Friday February 5, 2016 at the Magnolia Center, Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL, following several months of failing health.

Born December 29, 1941 in Hendricks, MN, he was the son of Peter and Dorothy (Hemmelmann) Hanson.  On March 24, 1960 he married Darlene Marie Nelson, they divorced in 1976.  Robert was employed as a candy cook for Fenn Candy Company; Heath Candy Company; LEAF Candy Company and finally Hershey Chocolate Company for 43 years.   He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, SD; member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #1369, Robinson, IL and was a long time devotee’ of the Crawford County Collectable Antique and Show Car Club.  

Survivors include former spouse, Darlene M. Baal, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Greg DeVries, Vermillion, SD; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert D. and Yong Hui Hanson, Renner, SD; Jerry and Glenda Hanson, Robinson, IL; David L. Hanson and Sherry Miller, Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren, Zach DeVries, Jason and Krista DeVries, Samantha DeVries, Richard Hanson, Rachel Hanson, Michelle Hanson, Malinda Hanson and Cole Hanson; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Lyle Hanson, Sioux Falls, SD; sister and partner, Betty Hanson and Wanda Baak, Maricopa, AZ and his best buddy, Roger Walton, Robinson, IL, along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a granddaughter, Angel DeVries; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma and Jim Monahan and Donna and Velmer Otten, and sister-in-law, Dee “Babe” Hanson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday February 12, 2016 at Miller Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, SD, with Pastor Paul Matchan officiating.  Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls, SD.  Friends may call one hour preceding funeral services (from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM) on Friday February 12, 2016 at Miller Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, SD.  Visitation in Robinson will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, on Tuesday February 9, 2016 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL.  

Contributions in Bobby’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, with envelopes available at the funeral homes.

Bobby was a great guy and we spent a lot of time talking and laughing. You have our deepest sympathy and prayers with the family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I really enjoyed working with him. We probably didn't always agree - he wasn't shy about letting you know what he thought - but he sure knew his way around a copper candy cooking kettle. Thoughts and prayers to the Hanson family.

Glenda, Jerry, and family....please know my heart is with you. I thought the world of Bob, he was always great to work with and so very kind. Always a good friend and co-worker, we all sure had some fun times...Bob will be missed by so many.

Bob was such a good, kind man. He was so good to work with at Hershey. I am so sorry I did not make it to see him before he passed. My thoughts and prayers are with you Jerry, Glenda and family. You did such a good job taking care of Bob. May God give you His Peace that passes all understanding at this difficult time.
