Mr. George E. Slaven, age 85, of Robinson, IL, died Thursday December 3, 2015 at 3:30 AM at the Magnolia Center, Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL.

Born November 5, 1930 in Arkansas City, Kansas, he was the son of Andrew Graham and Mary Ann (Mickish) Slaven.  On July 14, 1964 he married Janet Sue (Granby) and she survives.

George served in the Navy from 1949 to 1953; US Army Medical Corps; US Navy and US Army Retired in 1977; Crawford Memorial Hospital, LPN; LPN for Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home, Robinson, IL, Newton Rest Haven, Newton, IL, Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL and Heritage in Hutsonville, IL.  He was a member of the Highland Avenue Baptist Church, Robinson, IL and a life member of the VFW #4549, Robinson, IL.

Survivors include his wife, J. Sue Slaven, Robinson, IL; daughters, Renee Goodwin, Robinson, IL, Mary and Randy Christy, Marshall, IL, Ellen and Ralph Maxwell, Robinson, IL; grandchildren, Travis and Melinda Lewis, Robinson, IL, Marcus Lewis, Robinson, IL, Samantha and Jeff Acord, Robinson, IL, Ashley Maxwell and Fiancée Daniel Simkins, Valrico, FL, Paul and Julie Christy, Concord, NC, Vicky Christy, Robinson, IL, Samantha Christy, Robinson, IL and five great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are three nephews, one niece several cousins and one aunt.  

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Alice Blasko and Dorothy Bullock.

Visitation will be Sunday December 6, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL.  Funeral service will be Monday December 7, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL, with Bro. Dwight McDaniel and Bro. Jerry McDaniel officiating.  Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery, rural Oblong, IL.

Military Graveside Rites will be provided by VFW Post  #4549, E.M. Coulter Post #69, AmVets Post #33, all of Robinson, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the Crawford County Quilts of Valor; the Veteran’s Transportation Fund or the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
