Mr. Donald L. Simons, age 85, Robinson, IL, died Thursday August 13, 2015 at 11:05 AM at the Magnolia Center, Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL, following a period of declining health.

Born June 11, 1930 in Robinson, IL, he was the son of Charles D. and Lillie M. (Herr) Simons.  On March 4, 1949 he married Alvena L. “Pat” (Wright) Simons and she survives.

Donald was employed by Marathon, Robinson, IL, as a Maintenance Foreman and retired in 1985.  He was a member of the South Union Church, Flat Rock, IL; former member Loyal Order of the Moose #1369 and former member of the Star Prowlers Square Dance Club. He loved to garden and raise fruits and vegetables; he was a Honey Creek Township Trustee and he enjoyed being retired and helping his children build their homes.

Survivors include his wife, Alvena L. “Pat” Simons, Robinson, IL; son, Donnie Simons, Robinson, IL; daughters, Lorraine and Dan Turner, Robinson, IL; JoD and Victor Chubrilo, Robinson, IL; Amy and Mark Stone, Robinson, IL; Grandchildren, Dillon Stone and Jodi Steenwyk, Robinson, IL; Emma Stone, Robinson, IL; Amy and Jeff Mossman, Jacksonville, IL; Nikki Smith and Cory Coil, St. Peters, MO; Jason Young, Terre Haute, IN; Katherine Sullivan, Robinson, IL; Jay and Lisa Turner, GA; great grandchildren, Isla Sullivan, Robinson, IL; Cole and Avery Smith, St. Peters, MO; Bryson, Nolan and Griffin Mossman, Jacksonville, IL; Georgia Ray Turner; Eden E. Turner; Audrey Turner; Justice Turner; Naomi Turner and Titus Turner along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Charles Alvin Simons, 1950; two brothers, William Bill Simons and Dean Simons.

There will be a Private Family Graveside Service on Sunday August 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL, with Pastor Ron Price officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the resident’s activity fund, Magnolia Center, Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL, or to the Robinson High School Athletics, Football Fund, with envelopes available at the graveside service.

So sorry to hear of Don's passing. Good man, I always loved being around him when I was a kid on Updike St. I remember so many projects he and dad had together and of course the square dancing. He even danced with me a few times, made a 10 year olds day! I know he'll be missed. I think the last time I saw him was in Walmart and I spoke to him and he said "Is that the little Irvin girl" I know he was loved by all of you and will be missed. Connie
