Mr. Albert V. “A.V.” Smith, age 96, Kansas City, MO, formerly of Robinson, IL, died Saturday July 18, 2015 at 7:19 PM at North Kansas City Hospital, N. Kansas City, MO, following a very brief illness.

Born January 2, 1919 in Casey, IL, (Clark County), he was the son of Albert J. and Georgia Ann (Piersall) Smith.  On May 18, 1943 he married Sibyl D. (Crocker). AV and Sibyl were married for 67 years. She preceded him in death June 20, 2010.  

A.V. served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, 1942 to 1945; was a member of Platte Woods United Methodist Church, Platte Wood, MO, for 45 years.  He worked for the Ohio Oil Pipeline Company; Case Pottery in Robinson, IL; Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KS, in 1952; and in 1967 he moved to Kansas City, MO where he worked for TWA Overhaul Base and retired in 1984.  

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Phillip Burress, Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law and spouse, Kenneth and Beverly Crocker, Kennesaw, GA; two grandsons, Ryan Burress and Cory and Kelly Buress, Kansas City, MO; a granddaughter and spouse, Bethany and Brandon McElroy, Olathe, KS; along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Sibyl; brothers, Darrell W. Smith, Walter Eugene Smith; sisters, Edra Phillips; Edna Johnson and Kathryn Bennett.

Graveside Funeral Service will be Saturday July 24, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL.  There will be one hour of visitation, from 9:30 AM until time of service at 10:30 AM, at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the Albert V. Smith Memorial Fund, Platte Woods United Methodist Church, 7310 N. West Prairie View Road, Platte Woods, MO 64151.
