Mrs. Cora G. Ruddell, age 89, of Robinson, IL, formerly of Oblong, IL, and Odessa, TX, died
Saturday October 11, 2014 at 6:15 AM at Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care, Robinson, IL,
following a period of declining health.

Cora G. Riker was born in Crawford County, IL, April 22, 1925 to James Alva Edison Riker and
Lou Ella (Bond) Riker. She was a homemaker, mother to five children and from time to time
worked outside the home. She was a supervisor in the children’s apparel department of K-Mart
in Odessa, TX; worked at TRW Electronics in Oblong, IL, and as a young woman, worked in the
Crawford County Sheriff’s department for Sheriff Cy West.

On August 30, 1942 Cora and Charles L. Ruddell were married in the Eureka EUB Church and
then left for California as Charles was headed overseas in WWII. Following Charles’ safe return
from the war, their family began to grow. Children born to Cora and Charles are Barry Ruddell
of Brooklyn, New York; Brian (Debbie) Ruddell, Peoria, IL, Twylah (Jerry) King, Robinson, IL,
Claudia Ferguson, Garland, TX and Christie Hoffer, Loveland, CO. Seven grandchildren and
eight great grandchildren called Cora grandmother.Cora is also survived by two brothers, Cecil
(Lavina) Riker, Huntley, IL, Max Riker, Robinson, IL, a sister Mary Ellen Tracy, Bridgeport, IL,
sisters-in-law Mrs. Norma (Black) Riker, Early, TX and Mrs. Eleanor Riker, Oblong, IL. Several
nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding Cora in death were a son Larry Wayne Ruddell in infancy; a brother David Noble
Riker, KIA, WWII; a brother Keith Riker; a sister Alvina Riker; a sister and brother-in-law Vera
& Ed Thompson; a sister-in-law Rita Riker and a brother-in-law Roy Tracy.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday October 16, 2014 at Pulliam Funeral
Home, Robinson, IL, with visitation two hours preceding the funeral service from 9:00 am until
11:00 am. Interment will follow in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL. Memorial contributions
may be made to the Oblong Academic Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Lots of great memories from growing up in Oblong
and being friends and later being neighbors in Robinson
on Country View Lane
