Mrs. Mary Frances “Frances” Love, age 91, died Sunday January 5, 2014 at 10:25 AM at the Country Health Care, Gifford, Illinois, following several years of failing health.

Mary Frances Minks was born October 23, 1922 in Sullivan County, Indiana, one of four children, to Jess and Beula (Eaton) Minks.  Frances graduated Sullivan High School, Sullivan, Indiana and on September 9, 1941, she married Robert T. “Bob” Love, who preceded her in death on September 21, 1994 after four children and 53 years of marriage.

Besides her life as a wife and the loving mother of four children, Frances worked as a bookkeeper for Graves’ Industries and Big Buck Lumber Company, Robinson, Illinois for 25 years, retiring in 1986.  After retirement, and while in her eighth decade of life, Frances discovered a hidden talent; she was an artist.

Frances began painting while a resident at the Skilled Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois.  Her favorite subjects were floral displays, old barns, cows, lighthouses and children.  Many of her paintings were entered in local art shows and won several awards.  Frances was always musically inclined and entertained her children on long road trips by reciting poetry from her younger days and singing while her husband Bob whistled the melodies to their favorite songs.  She could still remember and perfectly recite five stanzas of William Wordsworth’s “Upon Westminster Bridge” from her high school days.  Frances was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast and loved to play multiple cards at bingo.

Mary Frances is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia (Pat) and Dennis Palmer, Fishers, Illinois; Pamela (Pam) and Robert Morrison, Santa Rosa, California; Susan and Terry Sutherland, Vandalia, Illinois; seven grandchildren and their spouses, DeAnn and David Cooper, Oklahoma, City, Oklahoma; Jill and Jon Holt, Manchester, Missouri; Tammy and Steve Martin, Sebastopol, Califorania; Bridget and Patrick McCarthy, Noblesville, IN; John Yost, Springfield, IL; Michael Yost, Effingham, IL and Matt Yost, Carbondale, Illinois.  Also surviving are eleven great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.  Those in her immediate family preceding her in death were her son, John P. Love, December 29, 1960; husband, Robert T. Love, September 21, 1994 as well as her brother Jess Minks and two sisters, Violet Sundusky and Theda Deckard.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday January 11, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, Illinois.  Visitation will be held Saturday January 11, 2014 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, Illinois.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to a wonder family and the loss of one of the kindest, sweetest woman I ever had the privilege to know. Although I have lost touch with you all over the years, I have fond memories of our neighborhood antics (mostly with Johnny), the dance recitals, backyard cookouts and games. Your mom and dad were so special and I know that having her with you for so many years must feel very special to you. Know that she is now in heaven with our mom and dad, John and Ellen Moore, and I am sure that your mom is receiving some wonderful hugs from old friends and family members that she too missed throughout the years. God bless and keep you. Cathie

So sorry to hear about your Mother, very nice lady. My dad (Reid) and Frances worked at Big Buck together for several years, Dad retired in 1986 as well, then passed away the next year. Many memories of her growing up and visiting my Dad at big buck, Frances always had a smile on her face and always a classy dresser, even for the lumber yard. My thought and prayers are with you.
