Vera E. Ferguson, 96, of Cleveland, TN. Formerly of Oblong, IL, passed away on Friday June 7, 2013 at her son’s home in Cleveland, TN.

Vera was born on August 10, 1916 in Oblong, IL. She was the daughter of Edward and Harlena (Jennings) Leach. On December 25, 1935 she married Virgil B. Ferguson who preceded her in death in 1980.

Vera was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, cooking and spending time with her family. She trusted Christ as her Savior as a teenager and was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church of Oblong, IL.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Larry and Darlene Ferguson of Cleveland, TN; four grandchildren Michelle Huskey and Melissa Harrison both of Cleveland, TN, Ben Bomer of Oblong, IL. and Kara Kurtz of Newton, IL; seven great-grandchildren Noah Kurtz of Newton, IL, Ben and Joseph Huskey of Cleveland, TN. and Lucas, Levi, Lydia, and Lance Harrison all of Cleveland, TN; and a niece Monna Hickox of Casey, IL.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter Kathy and five older sisters.

Visitation for Vera will be 9:00 - 10:00 AM Tuesday June 11, 2013 at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, IL. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM with her son Larry Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, rural Oblong.

The beautiful sounds of your mother, and dad's voices singing still drift unfettered through my mind, and will never leave , especially, "Farther Along". Vera, and Ben, lived not far from us, off So. Range, were a good friends of my family. I remember you as a new born, as I also remember Kathy, now in joyful reunion.datfoa
