Shirley N. Woods, age 79, of Robinson, IL, died Saturday October 2, 2010 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL, of brain injuries sustained in a fall earlier in the day.
She was born in Benton, IL, on July 25, 1931, the daughter of Charles E. and Laura Lytle Nolen; her older brother, Jack, was her only sibling. On September 1, 1946, she was united in marriage to Evan R. Woods, a strong partnership which lasted for 64 years. In the early 50's she and Evan moved their young family to Robinson, IL, where Evan found employment at CIPS power station at Hutsonville, IL.
Shirley was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Robinson, choir member, former Choir Director, Sunday School Teacher and served on several committees and numerous boards at the church; was a Campfire leader and a Crawford Memorial Ladies Auxiliary volunteer as well as a member of the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her husband Evan Ray Woods, Robinson; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin J. ∧ Diana Woods, Olney, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Terri L. and John Campbell, Georgetown, KY; five grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Dorothy "Dottie" Nolen, Robinson, IL. She was preceded in death by her Parents, a daughter, Sheri Underwood in 1984, a great grandson, Zeke Leonard and her brother Jack Nolen.
Funeral services will be Tuesday October 5, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL. Memorial donations may be given to Samaritan's Purse - Operation Christmas Child, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607-3000.
