Mrs. Jossie Belle "Belle" York, age 73, of Flat Rock, Illinois, died Wednesday November 24, 2010 at 11:58 AM EST at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, Indiana, of complications following arterial bypass surgery.

Born March 1, 1937 in Hacoda, Alabama, she was the daughter of George Washington and Nora Lee (Nolan) Russell. On July 29, 1968 she married Emerson D. York, and he survives. She was employed by Community Unit #2 School District as a cook for the Flat Rock Grade School until it closed and then she transferred to Robinson High School as a Janitress. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary, E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, Robinson, IL and VFW Women's Auxiliary, VFW Post #511, Lawrenceville, IL.

She is survived by her husband Emerson D. York, Flat Rock, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell Wayne and Kathy York, Savoy, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Traci Lyn and Terry Harrington, Flat Rock, IL; five grandchildren, Carrie Lyn York, Urbana, IL, Holly Marie York-Eastin, Urbana, IL, Curtis E. Herrington, Flat Rock, IL, Kylie Jo Herrington, Flat Rock, IL and Cody F. Herrington, Palestine, IL; six great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Kaymee, Katelyn, Dylan, Kennedy and James; brother and sisters-in-law, Alcus and Carolyn Russell, Samson, IL, G.W. "Jr." and Peggy Russell, Samson, AL, Donnie and Ann Russell, Samson, AL, Mickey and Paulette Russell, Opp, AL, sister and brothers-in-law, Ann Henderson, Samson, IL, Sandy and Tom Thompson, Hartford, AL and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Day and Modrell Kilcrease; four brothers, Joe Russell, Bobbie Russell, Billy Russell and Jimmy Russell.

Visitation will be Saturday November 27, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. Funeral service will be Sunday November 28, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Bob McCarter and Rev. David Ducommon officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
