Life Legacy

Mrs. Gladys Gower, age 92, of Annapolis, IL, died Wednesday December 22, 2010 at 2:20 pm at Burnside Nursing Home, Marshall, IL, following a long period of declining health. She was born January 10, 1918 in Licking Township, Crawford County, Illinois, the daughter of Thorton Jackson and Mabel Harriet (Wait) Stephens. On March 31, 1935 she married Lloyd E. "Scotty" Gower, and he preceded her in death on December 13, 2001. She was a homemaker as well as Co-Owner and Operator of Gower's General Store, Annapolis, IL, and attended the Pilgrim Holiness Church, Palestine, IL.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Nova Gower, West Union, IL; grandchildren, Steven L. and Tricia Gower, West Union, IL, Sheri and Jeff Harrington, Palestine, IL, Rod and Sue Ann Kenderdine, Martinsville, IL, Conna Jewell, Martinsville, IL; great-grandchildren, Miranda Gower, Rachel Gower, Julie Gower, Jerry L. Gower II, Sean, Collyn, Seth Jewell, Rachel, Sarah, Joshua Kenderdine; brother Harry "Nip" & Roberta Stephens, Robinson, IL; sister-in-law, Ruth Stephens, Annapolis, IL, sister-in-law, Clema R. Stephens, LaPorte, IN, sister-in-law and spouse, Ruth and Martin Shonk, Annapolis, IL. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd Gower; grandson, Michael Gower in 1971; granddaughter, Linda K. Gower, 1969; great-granddaughter, Skylar R. Gower in 1993; brothers, Denzil in 1984, Orlin in 2002 and Jean in 2002.

Visitation will be Monday December 27, 2010 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with the Funeral Service at 7:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home, Hutsonville, IL with Bro. Paul Gray and Bro. Randy Nave officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, rural Annapolis, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the Light House Mission, Terre Haute, IN with envelopes available at the funeral home.
