Mrs. Mavis M. Grieves, age 73, of Palestine, Illinois, died Sunday July 24, 2011 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Home, Robinson. She was born September 28, 1937 in Palestine, Illinois, the daughter of Pearl and Louie Ellen (Prather) Matheney. Mavis was retired from Hershey Chocolate Company, Robinson Production Facility, Whopper Line as a Packaging Operator with fifteen years service; she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post #4549, Robinson, Illinois; Ladies Auxiliary, Reavill Post #132, American Legion Post, Flat Rock, Illinois.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, James Thomas and Stephanie Baud, Marshall, Illinois, Richard and Ramona Baud, Columbia, TN, Steve Ruffner, Effingham, IL; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy Grieves, Robinson, Illinois, Susan & Kevin Kirk, Flat Rock, Illinois, Kay and Bill "Hud" Huddlestun, Falmouth, Illinois, Paula and Mike Stevenson, Robinson, Illinois; fourteen grandchildren, Anjanetta Reynolds, Cole Grieves, Dallas Kirk, Dillon Kirk, Jacob Minnich, Richard Baud Jr., Joshua Thomas, Samuel Baud, Katie Baud, J.T. Allen Ruffner, Shannon Schlosser, Stafany Meeks, Mike Stevenson, Misty Hawes, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Paul W. and Jetta Matheney, Robinson, Illinois; sister and brothers-in-law, Louellen and Gary Rich, Palestine, Illinois; sister-in-law, Ellen Matheney, Annapolis, Illinois; half sister, Edna Reed, Knox, Indiana; brother-in-law, Lloyd Goff, Robinson, Illinois and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death, her parents; a son, Danny Ruffner; brothers, Bobby C. Matheney, James E. Matheney and Donald E. Matheney; a sister, Lois Goff; half brothers, Shelby "Jack" Matheney, Eldridge "Bud" Matheney, Layman Glenn "Red" Matheney, Lawrence Matheney and half sister, Velda Smith.

Funeral Service will be Thursday July 28, 2011 at 10:30 am at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, Illinois with Rev. Leland Culp officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine, Illinois. Visitation will be Wednesday July 27, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life with envelopes available at the funeral home.
