Life Legacy

Mrs. Celesta J. Lachenmayr, age 91, of Country Care Manor, La Vernia, Texas, formerly of Robinson, Illinois, died Thursday January 5, 2012 at the Country Care Manor, La Vernia, Texas, following a period of declining health. She was born February 12, 1920 in Flat Rock, Illinois, the daughter of Joel L. and Arkie Opal (Montgomery) Moorhead. On December 14, 1935 she married George Walter, and he died September 11, 1976. On November 8, 1979, she married Gordon "Mose" Meeker,and he died May 5, 1985. On March 4, 1991 she married Norman Earl Lachenmayr and he preceded her in death on January 22, 2002. Celesta was a homemaker; a member of Highland Church of Christ, Robinson, Illinois, and as a young woman, Mrs. Lachenmayr sang with the Moorhead Merrymakers.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Bill Knight, La Vernia, Texas, Dr. Mary Ann Walter, Boerne, Texas; step sons, David P. Lachenmayr, Robinson, Illinois, Donald and Barbie Lachenmayr, Robinson, Illinois, Steven and Barbara Lachenmayr, Robinson, Illinois; step daughters, Mary L. and John E. Guyer, Robinson, Illinois, Janie L. Thackery, Robinson, Illinois; sisters, Mrs. Vivian Rains, Olney, Illinois, Mrs. Rhea Glenn, Robinson, Illinois, Mrs. Ruby Helen Rich, Newton, Illinois, Mrs. Joann Craig, Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mrs. Maxine Moorhead, Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Mary Ann and Darnell White, Convese, Texas, Catherine Pace, Lavernia, Texas; several step grandchildren and twenty nine great-great grndchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; three husbands, a brother, Charles F. Bud Moorhead; Brothers-in-law, Don Glenn, Harry Craig, Glenn Dappert, Mort Rich; an infant brother, Billy Joe and one Great Grandson Simone White.

Funeral services will be Monday January 9, 2011 at the Highland Church of Christ, Robinson, Illinois with visitation from 9:00 am until time of services at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to the Highland Church of Christ, Robinson, Illinois.
