Mr. Gregory C. "Greg" Boyd, age 62, Stoy, Illinois, died Tuesday February 7, 2012 due to an auto accident south of Charleston, Illinois on Route 130. Born May 25, 1949 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Carl Edward and Shirley Ann (Von Almen) Boyd. On February 5, 1972 he married Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Mills and she survives. Greg was an Environmental Control Supervisor at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois for 20 years; employed by the Pipefitter for Local 157, Terre Haute, Indiana; graduate of the Robinson High School, Class of 1968 and graduate of Lockyear Business College; Member of the Oblong Sports Boosters Club for many years; enjoyed scuba diving; racing at several race tracks and was an avid supporter of the family race team; dancing with his wife and friends, loved the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Boyd, Stoy, Illinois; sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Jenni Boyd, Tuscola, Illinois, John and Amanda Boyd, Tuscola, Illinois; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Aaron Hopper, Raymond, Illinois, Cyndi and Jay Lewis, Springfield, Illinois; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff Boyd and Vicki May, Trimble, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Emily, Evan and Eden Hopper, Raymond, Illinois, James, Mark and Chris Boyd, Tuscola, Illinois, Felicia Tucker, Tuscola, Illinois; and several cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents.

There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony at 2:30 PM Sunday February 12, 2012 at the First Christian Church, Oblong, Illinois with Pastor Joe Latson and Brother Dee Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be Saturday February 11, 2012 from 11:00 to 3:00 pm at the First Christian Church, Oblong, Illinois. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Oblong Sports Booster Club or the Booth Library at EIU, Charleston, Illinois with envelopes available at the church during visitation and service.
