Life Legacy

Mr. Walter A. Evans, age 84, of Robinson, Illinois, died Sunday March 11, 2012 at Crawford County Convalescent Center, Robinson, Illinois, following several months of failing health. He was born in Robinson, Illinois on April 16, 1927, the son of Richard and Scottie (Bidle) Evans. Walter was enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII; in 1948 he married Norma L. (Meurlott) and she preceded him in death September 19, 1978; was a member of the Robinson Free Methodist Church, Robinson, Illinois; Loyal Order of the Moose, Robinson, Illinois; Elks Lodge #1188, Robinson, Illinois; E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, Robinson, Illinois; Crawford Post #4549, VFW, Robinson, Illinois; Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aeerie #3329, Palestine, Illinois.

Survivors include son, Barry A. Evans, Robinson, Illinois; daughters and son-in-law, Georgia Lee and Nolan Atteberry, Flat Rock, Illinois, Elaine Simpson, Virginia Beach, VA; close friend and caregiver, Charlotte Devin, Bicknell, IN; brother, Roger Evans, Robinson, Illinois; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Walter in death were his parents; wife, Norma Evans in 1978; brothers, Wilford, Lewis, Richard, George, Norman and Daniel; sister, Glenore McCullough; grandson, Joshua Joel Simpson

Funeral services will be Thursday March 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, Illinois with visitation Wednesday March 14, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, Illinois. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, Illinois. Military graveside rites by American Legion Post #69; VFW Post #4549; Reavill Post #132, American Legion, Flat Rock, IL; Amvets Post #33. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home.
