Life Legacy

Mrs. Mary I. Osborne, age 88, of Robinson, Illinois, died Thursday May 3, 2012 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, Illinois, following many months of failing health. Born February 25, 1924 in Crawford County, Illinois, the daughter of Albert and I. May (Smith) Osborn. February 21, 1941 she married Russell Richards and he passed away May 19, 2005. Mary married Howard E. Osborne June 4, 1974 and he preceded her in death March 19, 1999. She was employed as a cook for the Sugar Bowl Restaurant in Robinson, Illinois; the Produce Department, Robinson IGA and was also a homemaker; member of the Dogwood Prairie Methodist Church, Oblong, Illinois; University of Illinois Crawford County Home Extension; Get-Together-Club, Prairie United Methodist Church and My Fellowship Leader.

Survivors include son, Edward L. Richards, Oblong, Illinois; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Doyle Purcell, Annapolis, Illinois; step son and wife, Howard Wayne and Laurabell Osborne, Villa Grove, Illinois; step daughter and husband, Marilyn and Don Slater, Natchitoches, LA; sister, Gladys McCune, Cupertino, California; grandchildren, Daniel Lee and Rita Richards, Oblong, Illinois; Cindy and Jim Anderson, Annapolis, Illinois; Marla K. and Martin Swartzbaugh, West Salem, Illinois; Tammy and Tracy Judy, Bridgeport, Illinois; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Mary in death were her parents; two husbands; brothers, William Adam Osborn, Albert Cleo Osborn and a half sister, Vivian Osborn.

Funeral services will be Tuesday May 8, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, Illinois with Pastor Hiram Gonzalez officiating. Visitation will be Monday May 7, 2012 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, Illinois. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery, rural Oblong, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Ridgeview Care Center Resident's Activity Fund or the Alzheimer's Foundation, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
