STANLEY L. “STAN” DART, age 90

Stanley Lloyd “Stan” Dart, 90, of Oblong, IL passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL.

Stan was born on January 4, 1926 in Licking Township of Crawford County Illinois to Ocie .M Dart and Gladys (Battershell) Dart. In 1955 he married Mary Reeser, who preceded him in death.

Stan was a railroad engineer for Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail, retiring in 1988. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the 291st Infantry. He was also a member of the Oblong High School Class of 1944. Stan was a train enthusiast, enjoyed mushroom hunting and was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Stan is survived by one son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Kim Dart, Logansport, IN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Louis Roembke, Fort Wayne, IN and Cindy and Jeff Frigs, Waterloo, IN; five grandchildren Nicholas, Levi, Matt, Adam and Mary; three great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley and Warren Stout, Sumner, IL and Jean and Charlie Bubb, Oblong, IL; along with several Nieces and Nephews.

Preceding Stan in death were his parents, daughter Candy, three brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Helen Dart, Gerald (Doc)and Cora Lee Dart, Kenneth L. “Kenny” and Carol Dart.

It was Stan’s wish to be cremated. Burial will be in Wilkin Cemetery, rural Oblong, IL at a later date with Military rites conducted by Oblong American Legion Post 219. There will be no visitation.
