MS. RITA J. CARTER, AGE 65

Ms. Rita J. Carter, age 65, of Robinson, IL, passed away Saturday May 7, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN following several weeks of failing health.

Born April 27, 1951 in Flat Rock, IL, she was the daughter of Ernest W. and Frances L. (Conover) Carter.  She married Larry L. Midgett, and they later divorced.  She then married Fred. L. Mehler and they divorced as well.

Rita was employed as a Payday Packing Operator for Hershey Candy Company for fifteen plus years.  She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church; and a member Junior Chamber of Commerce, Robinson, IL.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Angie Midgett, Liberty, MO; stepson, J.R. Mehler, Robinson, IL; step daughter, Nikki Garcia, Chandler, TX; two grandchildren, Ashley Midgett, Cassville, MO; Payton Midgett, Liberty, MO; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Nancy Carter, Robinson, IL; Steve and Lynn Carter, Robinson, IL; Rod Carter and Julie Badger, Hardinville, IL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia Kohl, Peoria, AZ; Karen and Bob Kaiser, Cheyenne, WY; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dave and Diana Aten, Oblong, IL, along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ernie in 1993 and Frances in 2001; a sister Dee Aten in 2002; husbands, Larry Midgett, 2013; Fred Mehler, 2016 and a brother-in-law, Ernie Kohl in 2010.

Funeral service will be Thursday May 12, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL, with Pastor Jane Drake officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday May 11, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL.  Burial will be in the Prier Shire Cemetery, rural Robinson, IL.  

Memorial donations may be made to the local Nutrition on Weekends Foundation or the Make A Wish Foundation, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

She fought a good fight. She is pain free now. I worked with Rita at Hershey, hard worker. Sending healing prayers to the family. May God take her by her hand to a peaceful place.

To the dear friends and family of my stepmom, "Mom Rita":

She has been an amazing stepmom and dear friend to me, and she taught me so much about life and love. She's encouraged me from the beginning, and I'm so grateful God brought her into my life. She was blessed to have a loving group of sincere friends and an amazing family. I send my heartfelt condolences to all who love her because she's one in a million, and the memories we have of her will be cherished forever. May the Lord comfort all who loved Mom Rita with His love and His promises during this difficult time.

I cannot express into words the sympathy I feel in my heart for this family today. I know many of Rita's brothers and her also, from Hershey. Praying you will be comforted in this time of sorrow. God Bless you all always.
