My sympathy is with your family. I first met Greta back in the 70's when we were students at LTC. We were both student workers in the Registrar's Office. She was always such a sweet person and that never changed.

I am so sorry to hear the loss of Gig. The Whipkey's were my neighbors growing up in Palestine, and we played on the same softball team since we were 13, great person. My daughter Erika had Gig at New Hebron, one of Erika's favorite teachers. Gig always had a smile on her face, always fun to be around. So sorry for your loss.

First off, I would like to extend my deepest condolences and well wishes to your family. I hope the Lord blesses you with the strength to overcome all you may face. Mrs. Rich, as I called her during my time at NHCS, had a bigger impact on my life than words can measure, and I am devastated to hear of her passing. She inspired me early-on to dream big, dream often, and to achieve more than I ever imagined to be possible. She was the sole person who ignited my love for reading early on -- a passion that I still carry with me today and one that led me to begin writing my own novel, as well as traveling the world doing research. While she may have moved on to be with her Heavenly Father, her legacy lives on through students like me, and will continue to survive through the skills, knowledge, and love for learning she gifted each and every one of us. So thank you, Mrs. Rich, for every small and big thing you did for me, whether inspiring hope in me, igniting my imagination, or instilling a love of learning that will last me for all of my days. I am forever grateful.
Love,
Elias Wright

I crossed paths with Gig on several occasions during her life. I remember buying produce at their Palestine house, playing softball against my sister, teaching Lucas and Allie, and working with Tim. We always laughed that one of my kids called her Mrs. Wich. It was far from the truth. They both loved her as a teacher.
The time ahead will be rough. Remember the good times to get you through it.

She will be missed.

Our kids were taught by many wonderful teachers at New Hebron Christian School, with Mrs. Rich, (Greta) being one of the best. Greta made our move to NHCS a breeze as Anna was a first grader in her little class of 6. As Anna prepped for 3rd grade, due to class numbers, Mrs Rich was moved to 3rd grade and we able to enjoy her yet another year. She was a WONDERFUL woman. We shared many conversations on the numerous field trips she used for hands on learning. I loved being one of her drivers and had LOTS of giggles shared that will forever remain our secret. God gained a great woman on his Paradise Team. Forever Blessings asked for her family, she talked about all of you often, as they walk a path to repair lives filled with a huge void.

I am so sorry to hear about Greta. Although I have not seen her in many years I have thought of her often. I have enjoyed recently reconnecting with the family through Facebook. Greta and I went to Lincoln Trail together. She actually helped serve in our wedding. I have a nice picture of her in my wedding album. I pray for you Tim and your children. What a nice tribute your daughter posted. I can understand how beloved she was to your family. Have peace in your memories.
