THOMAS E. “TOMMY” BRAZZELL, AGE 84

Thomas E. Brazzell, age 84, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at his Florida home.

Born February 7, 1932 in Dickson, TN, he was the son of Carlos and Mattie Lee (Bail) Brazzell.  On October 7, 1968 he married Ruby Mae Rippy and she preceded him in death October 20, 2011.  

"Tom" will be well remembered for a welcoming smile that lights up a room. He enjoyed years of singing in and around the Lake Placid, Florida area.

Tom retired from Marathon Oil Company having worked in Robinson, IL and Ft. Lauderdale terminals. He was a Korean War veteran having served in the U.S. Army.

Tom was a member over 50 years of Shriner's International, Ainad Shrine, Masonic Lodge (Master Mason), VFW, American Legion, Elks, and Moose. While in Robinson he was a member of the Ainad Shrine Motor Patrol unit, performing in many parades throughout the Midwest with his wife, Ruby, rooting from the sidelines. Tom took incredible care of wife Ruby, reaching their 50th wedding anniversary together until her death a few years later from dementia. His care and loyalty is discussed among Lake Placid friends still today.

Tom is preceded in death by parents, Carlos and Mattie (Bain) Brazzell, Sisters, Mary (Brazzell) Irwin,  Nettie Brazzell, and his brother, John R. Brazzell, step-sisters, Bonnie (Moize) Weger, step brothers, Billy Moize, Arnold Moize and David Moize.

He is survived in death by his son, Tom A. Brazzell, daughters, Rebecca Brazzell, Norma (Brazzell) Hammond, and Teri (Brazzell) Obst, and step daughter, Linda (Larry) French, Carmi, IL; sisters, Bettye (Brazzell) Cooper of Lexington, SC, and Cecilia (Brazzell) Thompson of Dickson, TN, step sister, Sue (Moize) of Bainbridge, GA, step brother, Jim Moize along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tom is also survived by his loyal and loving companion of four years, Barbara Deramo of New Philadelphia, OH and Sebring, FL.

Funeral service will be Monday March 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with Rev. Amy Wharton officiating.  Visitation will be Monday March 21, 2016 from 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment with Full Military Rites will follow funeral services in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL. Masonic Funeral Rites will be accorded at 1:30 PM on Monday March 21, 2016 at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals with envelopes available at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL.

Terri I am so sorry for your loss. Oh almost for got Norma. I have been in your place and it hurts when you loose your dad. May God give you girls and your families Peace and wrap his arms around you so you can feel his love.

God's blessing's on Tom's family. Special blessings on Barbara, Tom's companion. What a lovely pair they made! We are so happy they had each other in Tom's latter years. Minna & Barry Phillips

We just learned today of Tom's passing from a mutual friend in Sebring Fl.

We are so sorry to hear this sad news. Tom was a fun loving person and a great entertainer. We video recorded him a few years ago while at the Elks in Sebring singing a few Conway Twitty songs.

Our condolences go out to his family and special Hugs to his companion Barb.
