MRS. LOVETTE HILLARD, AGE 73

Mrs. Lovette Hillard, age 73, of Robinson, IL, died Saturday March 5, 2016 at 10:47 PM in the comfort of her home with family by her side, following several months of failing health.

Born August 21, 1942 in Caves Fork, Lee County, Kentucky she was the daughter of Herbert Elliot and Margie (Creech) Johnson.  On February 15, 1964 she married Patrick L. “Pat” Hillard, and he survives.

Lovette was the food service manager at Lincoln Trail College during the mid-1970’s into the early 1980’s.  Not only did she prepare wonderful meals for faculty and students, she also taught cake decorating classes.  Later on, she cooked for the Robinson Elk’s Grill and the Salem Elk’s Club.  One of Lovette’s proudest achievements was teaching in the Adult/Child Literacy Program that reached out to locals and the Robinson Correctional Facility.  She blessed our family by being the caretaker, cook, baker, seamstress, babysitter, driver or whatever specialty was needed.  She spent her life making sure everyone else was taken care of.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, a Chairman and Trustee for the VOICE OF DEMORACY and Patriot’s Pen Program for the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Patrick L. “Pat” Hillard, Robinson, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Shelly Hillard, Robinson, IL; a daughter and son-in-law, Karin and Scott Root, Bakersfield, CA; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Alberda; Jackie Alberda; Jarid Root; Jace Root; Nolan Hillard; James Hillard; Amber Hillard; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Richard Simons, Foster, RI; Gail and Richard Hamilton, Springfield, IL; Mary and Jules Spindler, Robinson, IL; Linda Tergerson, Hewitt, TX; John Burgund and Lori Garber, Chillicothe, IL along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Ed Johnson.

Funeral service will be held Saturday March 12, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL, with Pastor Gene Beard officiating.  Visitation will be Friday March 11, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of services at 1:00 PM at the Pulliam Funeral Home in Robinson, IL.  Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
