MR. FRED H. EICHHOLZ, AGE 82

Mr. Fred H. Eichholz, age 82, of Lawrenceville, IL, died Thursday February 18, 2016 at 5:25 PM EST, at Indiana University Health, Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN, following a very brief final illness.

Born January 11, 1934 in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of Fritz and Flora (Krisel) Eichholz.  On December 24, 1959 he married Claudine (Ballard) Eichholz and she survives.

Fred was a Retired High School Mathematics and Science Teacher, most recently taught at Dunklin R-5 High School in Herculaneum, (Jefferson County) MO.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Physics and Education from Missouri State University and his Masters of Science Degree in Counseling from the University of Missouri.  He served in the U.S. Navy, Korean Conflict; was a member of the 1st Baptist Church, Oblong, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Claudine Eichholz, Grundy Center, IA; a daughter-in-law and spouse, Margo Dierdorff and husband Mike, Grundy Center, IA; two grandsons, Alexander Charles Eichholz and Andrew Lyle Eichholz, both of Grundy Center, IA; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Galoria Standage; sister-in-law, Faye Ballard and nine nieces and six nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and a son Mark Alan Eichholz.

Mr. Eichholz requested that his body be cremated. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday February 25, 2016, at the First Baptist Church, Oblong, IL, with Pastor Justin Sweitzer officiating.  There will be a one hour visitation, (1:00 PM until 2:00 PM) prior to the Celebration of Life Service at the church.  Interment of the cremated remains will be at a later date in Missouri.

The family suggests that memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Eichholz be made to the First Baptist Church, 301 South Garfield St., Oblong, IL, with envelopes available at the church.  Military burial honors will be conducted following the Celebration of Life Service at the Church.
