I am so so sorry for your loss. Dave was a wonderful man. He was always so cheerful when I would talk to him on the phone, and always so nice and polite when he was in the office. Even thou I was just an employee, He never treated me any different than anyone else. And he would always tell me how much he love you (Terri) you were definitely the love of his life and he let that be known to anyone and everyone. And he loved his family, anyone could see that! He would always talk about his Jr. and how proud he was of her.
I'm so sorry! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

I first met Dave & Terri at Mel's Diner in Cape Coral, FL for a job interview as a funeral director/emblamer for Goodwin Family Funeral Home in Casey, IL. I immediately felt very comfortable with Dave. You could tell he was a good, caring, and very down to Earth Midwestern guy. I accepted the position on the spot and relocated to Casey, originally being from the Effingham area. Dave was not only my employer, but a great friend. Everything that Dave had spoke of was the gospel. Our business relationship transitioned into a friendship over the years. I could go to Dave for anything. Dave trusted me 100%, as I trusted him 100%. Dave and I had a lot of fun on our trips to Moonshine, day trips to see farm land, his bulldozer, and various other excursions which were full of adventure and comedy. Also, including Touch-A-Truck which Dave was a proud sponsor. Dave and I always joked about writing a book. Lol! I had been with Dave & Terri through much of his illness and enjoyed helping their family doing extra things, as they had helped me. Then after Dave's recovery, we got to spend more quality time and fun together, which was a blessing. In closing, Dave was taken at much to young of an age. He was the kindest, gentlest, honest, caring, good old farmer that you could ever meet. A piece of my heart feels like it is gone. My most sincere condolences and hugs to the entire family, especially Terri and Junior, as they continue on this journey, we call life.

Terri,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Dave. I always enjoyed talking to Dave and I know you will miss him very much. Dave was always a good person to do business as I know whatever he said or done would be the way business transacted. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can assist you in any way. Unfortunately, I will be out of town for Dave's service but I will certainly keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
