RAYMOND POINDEXTER

Raymond C. “Ray” Poindexter, 34, Cypress, TX passed away unexpectedly on Monday August 17, 2015 in Houston, TX.

Ray was born on February 10, 1981 in Evanston, WY and was the son of Donald Lee Poindexter JR and Linda Diane Price.

Ray was a technician at Black Horse Industries a Division of Caterpillar making oilfield pumps.  He grew up in the Annapolis, IL area and as a youth, he attended Olive Branch Baptist Church rural Annapolis, IL; He attended schools in Oblong and Hutsonville, IL, and was a member of the Southeastern Illinois Motorcycle Enthusiast. Ray loved to ride his motorcycle, watching the Chicago Cubs, hockey, traveling, camping, fishing and dogs. Especially his special 4 legged companion “Dexter”.

Ray is survived by his mother, Linda D. and William Gamblin, Annapolis, IL; his father Donald L. and Cynthia Poindexter JR, Sunbright, TN; a son Dallas Harwood and a daughter Nevaeh Raeann Poindexter both of Keokuk, IA; a sister Leann Ohlman, Casey, IL; paternal grandparents Donald Lee and Darlene Poindexter SR, South Carolina; two nieces Savanah Phillippe, Robinson, IL and Lindsay Ohlman, Casey, IL; a nephew Garrett Markello , Casey, IL; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding Ray in death was his half brother Donald Lee Poindexter III; maternal grandparents James and Lucille Price and grandmother Claudia Gamblin.

A Celebration of Ray’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 29, 2015 at Pulliam Funeral Home, 302 East Main Street, Oblong, IL, with Pastor Brad Harris officiating. There will be a gathering of friends and family from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers an expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Music Department for the Hutsonville School District with envelopes at or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449.

Linda am so sorry for your loss. So hard to lose someone you love but when they are young seems like it hurts so much worse. You have my prayers and thoughts to help you through this. Once again so sorry.
