Miss Geraldine I. “Gurn” VanArsdalen, age 84, of Martinsville, IL, (Annapolis Community), died Tuesday January 13, 2015 at 11:59 PM at the Magnolia Center, Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL, following several months of battling leukemia.

Born February 28, 1930 in Prairie Township, Crawford County, IL, she was the daughter of Russell Morton and Angie Mae (Chapman) VanArsdalen.  

She worked at Robinson Manufacturing (Ettelbrick Shoe Factory) until plant closure; enrolled at Lincoln Trail College in the CNA Program and was certified as a Nurse’s Assistant; worked at Miller’s Innovative Care, Robinson, IL, for several years; worked at Colonel Sander’s Kentucky Fried Chicken in Robinson until her retirement.  She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church, rural Annapolis, IL.

Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Marcia VanArsdalen, Annapolis, IL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Doris L. and Bruce Staley, Martinsville, IL; Mrs. G. Maxine Elliott and Alva Fleek, Annapolis, IL; Mrs. Barbara J. and Bob Pleasant, Robinson, IL along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be Saturday January 17, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL, with Bro. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday January 17, 2015 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Olive Branch Cemetery, Annapolis, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at Pleasant Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church, rural Annapolis, IL, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
