MR. ROBERT A. “BOB” CROSS, AGE 86

Mr. Robert A. “Bob” Cross, age 86, of Robinson, IL, died Wednesday November 19, 2014 at 9:41 PM at the Magnolia Center of Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL, following several months of failing health.

Born July 9, 1928 in Robinson, IL, he was the son of Victor “Dutch” and Pearl (Fouty) Cross.  On April 22, 1950 he married Patricia (Cummins) and they later divorced and she survives.  On August 14, 1978 he married Madonna J. (Sanders) and she preceded him in death May 27, 2000.  

Bob served in the United States Air Force during World War II; he retired from the Barrel House at Marathon Oil Company, Robinson, IL on February 1, 1986; was a member of the E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, Robinson, IL; AmVets Post #33, Robinson, IL; Loyal Order of the Moose #1369, Robinson, IL and played in several local country western bands,  the “Prairie Boys”, “Country Rhythm Masters” and  “Cross Country Boys” for many years.

Survivors include a son, Alan Cross, Minneapolis, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and John McLaughlin, Lovington, NM; a very special step-granddaughter whom he helped raise, Christy (Phillips) Weger, Robinson, IL; five grandchildren; Regina McLaughlin; Buffy Spangler; John McLaughlin; Stephanie DuPlayee; Allison Cross; seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron and Marty Cross, Cleveland, OH; Larry and Evelyn Cross, Robinson, IL along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Madonna J. (Sanders) Cross, in 2000; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Norman Gangloff and a step-son, Roger Phillips.

Funeral services will be Tuesday November 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL, with Pastor Dwight McDaniel officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday November 25, 2014 from 10:00 AM until time of services at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Your daddy was a precious man. I think about him and cry as I remember him playing his music and singing. He was kind, caring and wanted the best for everyone. It is so tough to loose a loved one. He will forever be with you. His songs and the wonderful memories. He was a good man. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Jane Ann
