Life Legacy


Mr. Robert R. "Bob" Gilliatt, age 87, Robinson, IL, departed this earth November 29, 2010. He was born December 26, 1922 in Bridgeport, IL to Henry Albert and Sarah (Lumbert) Gilliatt Jones. Bob was married to Lelah Ruth Weaver March 1, 1940 until her death in 1983. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn S. and Stephen Henderson, Richmond, KY and Linda R. and Harry Kincade, Greenwood, IN.

A graduate of Bridgeport High School, he attended college and started his career as an industrial engineer at American Steel Foundries in Gary, IN in the early 1940's. He and his family moved to Robinson in 1955 where he became the industrial engineer at Case Manufacturing. He retired as supervisor of Industrial Engineering at Briggs Manufacturing in 1995 after 40 years of service. Bob was an avid golfer and a charter member of the Oak Glen Golf Club. He has been a member of the 1st United Methodist Church since 1955, was on the Board of Directors and served as both President and Vice-President of the Methodist Men, and was a member of the Robinson Elks Club.

In addition to his daughters, Robert is survived by a sister, Margaret Ann (Howard) Stout, Lawrenceville, IL; four grandchildren, Michael and Beverly Henderson, Lexington, KY; Pamela and Kelly Terwilliger, Prospect, KY; Andrew and Regina Henderson, Taylorsville, KY and Daniel and Pam Gilman, Cloverdale, IN; eleven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Wanda Babb, Robinson, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lelah Ruth; his parents; four brothers, Henry A. Gilliatt, Gene G. Gilliatt and infant twins.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL, with the funeral service Thursday December 2, 2010 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park, Olney, IL, immediately following the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity with envelopes available at the funeral home.
