Nellie R. Rhyne

January 26, 1913 - December 29, 2010

Mrs. Nellie R. (Dennis) Rhyne, age 97, of Robinson, Illinois, went to be with her Lord at 2:00 am on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at her residence, her son Clifford was at her bedside. Nellie was born January 26, 1913 in Willow Hill, Illinois, the daughter of Guy and Mary (Hurt) Sempsrott. On April 3, 1932 she married Richard Harold "Bud" Dennis. Bud preceded her in death on April 23, 1973. Nellie married V. Harold Rhyne on July 3, 1986 and he passed away on July 6, 1994. Nellie was a hard working farmer and farm wife. She was a member of the Hardinville United Church, Hardinville, Illinois. She was a graduate of Oblong Township High School, class of 1931; enjoyed farming, driving tractors and trucks and loved to be outside. Nellie raised a family and helped many neighbors when help was needed, for many years was a member of Leeper Chapel Methodist Church until it closed. Nellie will be missed by many friends and relatives.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Lucille "Lucy" Dennis, Robinson, Illinois; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Kathryn and Kenneth Douglas, Robinson, Illinois, Carol Sue and Earl Redmond, Johnstown, Ohio; four step-daughters, Jean and Boyd Arnold, Cridersville, Ohio, Barbara and Shirley Rhyne, Celina, Ohio, Deloris and Bud Roether, South Carolina. Nine grandchildren, Michael Dennis, California, Carl Dennis, Robinson, IL, Richard Dennis, Virginia, Larry Joe Dennis, Robinson, IL, Randy Tracy and Kathy Bush, Robinson, IL, Brian Redmond, Boise, Idaho, Diana Southwick, Freeville, New York ad Denise Sullivan, Sunbury, Ohio; brother, Aden (Semzar) Sempsrott, Birmingham, Alabama; one step-brother, Milo Shaner, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Guyer, Hutsonville, Illinois, Olviia Dennis, Springfield, Illinois; ten step grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; twenty-four step great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren, three step great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; cousin, Nellie Manning, Willow Hill, Illinois.

Visitation will be Sunday January 2, 2011 from 11:00 am until time of service at 2:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, Illinois with Rev. Howard Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Shire Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Hardinville United Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
