Life Legacy


Mr. Kenneth L. Dart, age 81, of Oblong, Illinois, died Friday March 11, 2011 at 11:56 am at the Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, Illinois. He was born April 8, 1929 in Licking Township, Crawford County, Illinois, the son of Ocie Mayfield and Gladys Marie (Battershell) Dart. On April 7, 1955 he married Carol Marie Ellis, who preceded him in death May 1, 2002. On July 18, 2003 he married Norma (Taylor) Thompson and she survives. Kenneth was employed by the State of Illinois Highway Department, retiring in 2000; he was a farmer for most of his life; served in the U.S. Army during Korea; member of the White Oak Church, rural Oblong, Illinois; Graduate of Oblong High School, Class of 1947; member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219, Oblong, Illinois; Oblong School Board; Soil Conservation District; Licking Township Supervisor. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; traveling; gardening; flowers and hunting.

Other survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Lori Dart, Oblong, Illinois, Kevin and Darlene Dart, Oblong, Illinois; Oren and Tina Dart, Oblong, Illinois ; Bradley Dart, Villa Ricca, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley Dart, Oblong, IL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Charlie Bubb, Oblong, Illinois, Shirley and Warren Stout, Sumner, Illinois; five step children, Connie and Steve Ames, Oblong, Illinois, Ronnie and Glenda Allen, Oblong, Illinois, Bart and Tammy Allen, Panama City, Florida, Judy Phillippe, Oblong, Illinois, Todd Allen Oblong, Illinois; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Ruth Accardio, Surprise, Arizonia; sister-in-law, Carolyn Ellis, Palestine, Illinois.

Visitation will be Tuesday March 15, 2011 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, Illinois with Funeral Service Wednesday March 16, 2011 at 10:30 am. Burial will be in the Hutsonville Cemetery, Hutsonville, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Crawford Memorial Hospital Foundation or Crawford County Senior Citizens with envelopes available at the funeral home.
