Finley Provines

October 27, 1934 - June 18, 2011

Finley Provines, age 76, of Sumner, Illinois, died Saturday June 18, 2011 at his residence with all his family at his bedside. He was born October 27, 1934 in St. Francisville, Illinois, the son of Marshall Corrie and Lillybell (Hasler) Provines. On September 13, 1968 he married Janit Sue Sholders. Finley was a lifelong farmer in Lawrence County, Illinois; he enjoyed Model Railroading; was the founder of the "Singing Provines" a christian singing group and a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.

Survivors include his wife, Janit Provines, Sumner, Illinois; son, Glen Provines, Sumner, Illinois; three grandsons, Chris Provines, Victor Provines and Cody Provines, all of Sumner, Illinois; one great grandson, Karter Provines, Sumner, Illinois; a brother Kenneth Provines, Mt. Vernon, Illinois; one niece; two nephews; one great niece and two great nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; one granddaughter, Vickie Lynn Provines (2002), daughter-in-law, Connie Sue Provines (2002).

Funeral services will be Wednesday June 22, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Sumner, Illinois at 3:00 pm with Rev. Mike Rucker officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the church. Burial will be in the Crest Haven Memorial Park, Clairmont, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Finley Provines Memorial Fund with envelopes available at the church.
