Mr. Roger D. Miller, age 64, of Oblong, Illinois, died Thursday March 15, 2012 at Lakeland Nursing Home, Effingham, Illinois. Born August 28, 1947, in Yale, Illinois, the son of Nova Orlin and Nellie Agnes (Short) Miller. He was employed at the Briggs Pottery, Robinson, Illinois as a Castor; currently was working in production at Stevens Industries, Teutopolis, Illinois. Roger attended Newton Community High School. His hobbies included fishing, mushroom hunting, woodworking, collecting John Deere toy tractors, yard work and gardening.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Leasa and Kendall Johnson, Newton, Illinois, Jamie and Chris Ochs, Willlow Hill, Illinois, Laura and John Birch, Newton, Illinois; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Cindy Miller, Oblong, Illinois; sisters, Alice Weaver, Oblong, Illinois, Janet Adams, Yale, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Emilee Johnson, Newton, Illinois, Peighton Arnone, Willow Hill, Illinois, Xander Ochs, Willow Hill, Illinois, Christopher Jones and Andrew Ochs, Oblong, Illinois, Tiffany Birch, Terre Haute, Indiana and Garrett Birch, Newton, Illinois along with several nieces and nephews; special friends; Keith and Kathy McCoy, Robinson, Illinois. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, John and Lloyd Miller.

Funeral services are Sunday March 18, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, Illinois with Pastor Phil Boyd officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of services at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Oblong Park Christmas Decorations with envelopes available at the funeral home.
