Mr. Bradley Dwight "Brad" Stephens age 41, of Palestine, Illinois, formerly of Hutsonville, Illinois, was found dead by his family Thursday July 26, 2012 at his residence in Palestine, Illinois. Born October 26, 1970 in Vincennes, Indiana, he was the son of Gilbert and Mary (Patton) Stephens. Bradley attended Eastern Illinois University, majoring in Computer Science. Brad's many interests and hobbies included a great love for the out-of-doors. He loved fishing, hunting and trapping fur bearing animals. Brad excelled in martial arts in his teens and received a second degree Black Belt. Bradley enjoyed playing both acoustic and electric guitar, reading the classical literature and sharing his hobbies and interests with his son, Alex. Brad enlisted in the US Navy's Nuclear Science Program which involved extensive training and study. He was a 1989 Graduate, with Honors, Hutsonville High School; Member of Hutsonville High School Band, Student Council; Participated in Scholastic Bowl Competitions. Brad was inducted into the Who's Who of High School Students and was a member of the National Honor society.

Survivors include his parents, Gilbert and Mary Stephens, Hutsonville, Illinois; son, Alex Drummond, Casey, Illinois; grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Stephens, Annapolis, Illinois; sister and brother-in-law, Misty and Sumner Brown, Coatesville, Indiana; two nephews, Jackson and Murphy Brown, Coatesville, Indiana as well as several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Preceding him in death were his paternal grandfather, Denzil Stephens; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Jennie Patton.

There will be a Memorial Service on Tuesday July 31, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Hutsonville, 209 North Pleasant Street, Hutsonville, Illinois, with visitation immediately prior to the service. Pastor Rick Catt will be officiating. Final disposition will be cremation with a scattering of the cremated remains. Memorial donations may be made to the Hutsonville Public Library with envelopes available the the church.
