Life Legacy


Mr. Norman K. "Norm" Rich, age 82, Robinson, Illinois, died Tuesday December 4, 2012 at 5:05 AM at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon, Illinois, following a period of declining health. Born July 5, 1930 in Hammond, Indiana, he was the son of Clarence David and Nola (Way) Rich. On December 21, 1950 he married Carolyn M. (Morrill) and she preceded him in death November 17, 2011. Norm served in the U.S. Air Force after World War II and was employed as a Draftsman in the Engineering Department, Marathon Oil Company, Robinson, Illinois, retiring in 1985; was a member of the BPO Elks #1188; E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, Robinson, Illinois; Quail Creek Country Club, Robinson, Illinois; and the AF & AM Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Keith Rich, Indianapolis, Indiana; Timothy L. and Greta Rich, Robinson, Illinois; two grandchildren, Chad Rich, Ft. Worth, Texas; Lindsay Rich, Dothan, Alabama; a sister-in-law, Catherine "Kate" Rich, Robinson, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Carolyn M. Rich, 2011; brother, John D. "Jack" Rich, 2002.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday December 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, Illinois, with Rev. Louis Youngs officiating. There will be visitation at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until time of services at 1:00 pm. Private family burial of Cremated Remains, to follow in the Oblong City Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Robinson Library District Foundation, Robinson, Illinois, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
